CHORA

The capital of the island, commercial center, built on a hill, quite near from Kapsali port. The castle was built on the old fortress of 1150. In the end of the century it was fortified in order to resist to the pirates. Many Venetian vestiges were saved, such as the palace of the local nobleman, as well as the court of justice at the entrance of the palace.

DIAKOFTI

Beautiful village on the beach, behind the mountain of Ag. Moni. The island has two ports: Diakofti is the commercial port that is joined with a small bridge to the island of “Makrykithira”.

MYLOPOTAMOS

The biggest village, commercial center and the principal center of the second community of the island. The architecture combines a lot of elements of the Cycladic and Venetian architecture.

AVLEMONAS

Nice old port with a small Venetian castle with canons and the symbol of the lion of St Marc on the fortress.

Kithira or Tsirigo is the southernmost of the Ionian Sea. Located across from the southeastern tip of the Peloponnese, near the entrance of the Laconian Gulf. Kithira, also known as the island of Aphrodite, as, according to Hesiod was born here the most beautiful goddess of Olympus because of the geographical location were the bone of contention for many conquerors.

The island is "where the West meets the East Mediterranean," and where cultures crossed and knitting toys of fate.

It boasts the varied landscape and monuments in the legacy of culture that reveal the individuality of Kithira in Greece.

Nature gave Kithira unique beauty. Landscapes rotate and fill the eyes with unique images.
